About Us
It all began fifty-three years ago when Ed Worden had a harrowing experience; his
fully loaded gas tanker was sent sliding backwards down an icy mountain highway after the chocks he was provided failed. This incredibly frightening experience was the motivation behind our hold-under-any circumstance design.
In fact, Eds expertise helped create The Society of Automotive Engineers Standard J348, which provides the basic information required for the manufacture and design of wheel chocks. We have designed a very unique, SAE prescribed, comprehensive chock test simulator, in upstate New York. With this apparatus, a chocks safe range of operation can be accurately measured, demonstrated, and rated against the others. Will a chock yield, fail, or hold up? Laboratory testing is backed up with on site truck/chock performance evaluations. A chock may test well in the lab but not function on the road. At Worden Safety considering your safety is our business. We apply the Science of Physics to the safety that industry demands. There is a tremendous amount of information to be considered when choosing a wheel chock. If you have questions, we have answers. Worden Safety is committed to your safety.
